WANGANUI EAST CROQUET SEASON ENDS

The Wanganui East Croquet Club closed its 1947-48 season last Saturday with many sister club members and friends attending. Mrs. A. E. Halligan welcomed all a».d hoped they would have an enjoyable afternoon. Competitions were played and a stall brought ready response. Afternoon tea was served, after which Mrs. McLean, president of the Wanganui Croquet Association was asked to give out the trophies won during the season. The players were as follows: The president’s Handicap, Mrs. Chapman 1, Mrs. Drummond, runner-up. Currin Cup Championship, Mrs. Drummond 1, Mrs. Harris, runner-up. A Yankee, Mrs. Chapman 1. Mrs. Hammond, runner-up. B Yankee, Mrs. Bamber 1, Mrs. Taylor, runner-up. Saturday play A, Mrs. Bamber 1, B Mrs. Taylor 1. A breaks, Mrs. Drummonds, B breaks, Mrs. Taylor. Mrs. Halligan then thanked al! for making the afternoon such a success and Mrs. Chapman presented sprays to Mrs. McLean, Mrs. Halligan (president), Mrs. Drummond (captain) and Mrs. Currin, (secretary). Mrs. McLean then presented Mrs. Currin with a gift from the president, in appreciation as secretary. The Crazy Hoops were won by Mrs. Stevens; Golf Croquet, won by Mrs. Trussell; Ladder, Mrs. Carline; Skittles, Mrs. Easton; cake, by Mrs. Car line; Mystery Parcel, Mr. A. Black; Cooking Necessary, Mrs. Gower. ’
