Garden Competition Prizes Presented

In the presence of a large attend? ance last night at the Drill Hall, where the Wanganui Horticultural Society held its annual chrysanthemum show, prizes lor the garden competition sponsored by the Wanganui Junior Chamber of Commerce were presented. Both the president of the society (Mr. G. A. Ammundsen) and the Deputy-Mayor (Mr. J. B. Jack) praised the enterprise and public spiritedness of the Wanganui Junior Chamber of Commerce in sponsoring the effort, which had been most successful in its first year. Mr. Jack a.so expressed appreciation of the co-oper-ation of the citizens of Wanganui. The president of the Wanganui Junior Chamber (Mr. F. Wilson) congratulated the winners and acknowledged the Junior Chamber's thanks to those who had in any way assisted the project. It had been most encouraging, he said. Mr. Ammundsen announced the following winners in the Horticultural Society's State housing competition:— Mr H. Lawrence, Tinirau Street, 1; Mr. E. C. Boyd, Clapham Street, 2; Mrs. A. F. Newrick, 3. Mr. Lawrence also won the competition last year.
