Messrs I. W. Davey and K. Boesley, Wanganui, are attending the national conference of men s Red Cross Societies in Wellington this week-end. Mr. S. R. Searle, of Wanganui, has passed the competitive preliminary examination of the Institute of Actuaries. Dr. G. W. Harty, of Wanganui, who recently retired after 40 years’ practice in Wellington, has been appointed patron of the New Zealand Ophthalmological Society. Messrs A. H. Larkman and A. J. Kingston are to attend the annual conference of the Technical School Teachers’ Association which opens in Dunedin next Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Eatt, of Wanganui, leave for Dunedin today to attend the capping of their son, Mr. K. 'D. Batt, who has passed the final examination lor the degree of Bachelor jof Philosophy. i Major-General Sir Andrew Russell, K.C.B , K.C.M.G., patron of the Gallipoli Veterans’ Association, Wanganui, has advised the secretary that he will be pleased to attend the reception to be held in his honour in Wanganui on May 19. Mr R. P. Goodworth, chief accountant for the Port Line in New Zea- | land, has retired because of illhealth. Mr. Goodworth, who is at present visiting the United Kingdom on a health recruiting trip, joined lhe head office of the company in London in 1923 and was transferred to Wellington in 1927. Mr. R. B. Rapp has j been appointed to the position.
