County Chairman’s Belief In Helicopters For Ambulance Work

(S.R.) Marton, May 6. 1 “I still think that ambulances are ' out of date—the time is coming when; helicopters will give this service in country districts,” declared the chair-, man, Cr. K. W. Dalrymple, when theMarton Junior Chamber of Commerce, in a letter before the Rangftikti County Council at its. monthly meeting today, requested support for an appeal being made for n mbulance in Marton. “Helicopters are coming,” the chairman said in reply to a comment by a councillor. “Hundreds of young persons are learning to fly. The trouble is that we of the old crowd are not used to it.” Referring to the suggested ambulance for Marton, Cr. A. S. Coleman said that this question was discussed by the Wanganui Hospital Board when its estimates for the current, financial year were under consideration. The majority of board members felt that if an ambulance were obtained Marton's chancbs of getting a hospital would be prejudiced. “I move that this matter be held over till we see what happens with regard to the new hospital.” Cr. Coleman added. After a brief discussion the motion was carried.
