Narrow Escape For Star.
Hair-raising experience of flying for three hours in a cockpit filled with octane gas lumes from a leading outlet valve in one of the auxiliary gas tanks gave Tyrone Power and his crew a dangerous thrill seldom topped in movies. Power ran into trouble five hours out of Natal His crew tightened the nut as much as they dared, opened ventilation jets, spraying the cockpit with pyrene fluid and said their prayers. Oh yes, they did one thing more: took off their shoes, as moving about on a metal cabin floor might strike the spark which would send them into eternity pronto.
