IDLE-ALONG RACES CONTINUED AT DUNEDIN
(P.A.) Dunedin. Jan. 27. Two idlealong championship races were sailed on the Otago Harbour to-' day. The morning race was won by Auckland by 57 seconds, from Hawkes Bay and Wellington, had a convincing win by 2 minutes 15 seconds from Hawkes Bay in the race in the afternoon. The morning’s race was sailed over a windward and leeward course and the other over a triangular course. Hawke’s Bay has won three seconds in three races, and leads on points from Canterbury for the Moffat Cup with two races to be sailed. There will be one today and one on Thursday. Nelson actually came third in the race this morning, and Wanganui sixth, but both were disqualified for breaches of the port and starboard rule and so lost any points for the race. West Coast fouled a buoy and retired. Southland which started half an hour after the other boats also withdrew after one round of the course. Wellington, which finished fourth, was awarded third place, and Canterbury fourth. The West Coast crew was third in the race in the afternoon and, Canterbury was fourth. Both races were sailed in full sail. The fourth was sailed in easterly breezes and when the wind was at its highest in the morning the whole fleet carried working jibs and a reef in the mainsail as well as heavy weather crews.
