N.Z. COMMUNISTS TOLD TO FORGET DREAMS OF POWER; NEW BOOK
New York, Jan. 23. New Zealand’s Communists might as well forget their dreams of power. “It is no use” says Author Martin Ebon, in a book “World Communism Today,” published by Whittlesey House, New York. Ebon who is a German-born naturalised American, was an editor with the overseas news agency and also worked in the Office of War Information and State Department. He presents a brief historical and factual survey of the position of the Communist Party in New Zealand in a chapter dealing with the general position in the south-east Pacific, The book is a comprehensive coun-try-by-country analysis of Communism against the background of world power conflicts. Ebon says what little political economic rebellion there is in New Zealand can be found in the State-owned mines and on the waterfronts. He adds: “the Comintern’s idea about agitation among the Maoris has born only shrivelled fruit.” Ebon says Communism, which he calls “organised desperation,” is in a better position today than ever to win the batlie for world domination.
