YOUNG MAN DROWNED
(P.A.) Greymoutli, Jan. 25. When a canvas canoe in which he and a companion were sailing on Lake Brunner, 24 miles frojn Greymouth, at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, capsized in chonny water, Ronald Saunders. aged 21. who commenced a camping holiday at the Lake on Saturday morning, was thrown into the water and drowned. The body has not yet been located. A companion, Leonard Clarke, also of Christchurch, swam ashore, reaching land in an exhausted condition. Saunders had boots on and was unable to remove them to save his life.
