R.S.A. CRITICISM OF HEALTH DEPARTMENT’S RIGID INSPECTIONS
The action of the Health Department in insisting that business premises should instal additional sinks and sanitary conveniences was discussed at last night’s meeting of the executive of the Wanganui Returned Services’ Association when the opinion was expressed that in many cases the alterations, while in the terests of the public, could be well left until a later date when supplies were more plentiful. It was also considered that in view of the present limited supplies, a too rigid insistence on the complete fulfilment of the regulations would be detrimental to the easing of the housing problem for returned servicemen. It was decided to bring the matter before the notice of the Health Department.
