WAIRARAPA AND HAWKE’S BAY PLAY DRAWN GAME
(P.A.) Masterton, Dec. 28. Following a splendid recovery by the Wairarapa team in the first innings, the final stages of the crickft match at Masterton on Saturday afternoon between Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa provided a thrilling finish with Wairarapa gallantly fighting for a win after Hawke’s Bay had declared in the second innings. Wairarapa was left the task of getting 128 runs to win in 45 minutes. The whole team went at the bowling and when time was called had 70 up lor the loss of four wickets, the game thus ending in a draw. Roberts and Williamson, who both passed the century mark for Wairarapa, played brilliant cricket. Scores.— Wairarapa. first innings 349 (Roberts 116, Williamson 104, Kershaw 21. Rowe 19. Alpe, not out 15, K. Masters 12 G. Masters 11). Bowling: Hornibrook 4 wickets for 100; Jensent 3 for SI; Fulford one for 9; Harte, one for 16. Reaney one for 90. Second innings, 70 for four wickets.
