Tribute To Work Of Sir Carl Berendsen

(P.A.) Auckland, Dec. 28 The leader of the New Zealand delegation to U.N.O. and New Zealand Minister to Washington, Sir Carl Berendson, was regarded as one of the outstanding men in U.N.O. said Mr. T. O. W. Brebner. New Zealand Consul-General and Customs representative in New York, who arrived at Auckland from Vancouver by the Wairata. Sir was an excellent chairman of the Various committees and his ability and forthright attitude had created a fine impression. Mr. Brebner has been away from New Zealand for more than 11 years. He spent, three years in the Customs section of New Zealand House in London and he has held his present appointment in New York for 8i years. Mr. Brebner will remain in the Dominion for some months on a refresher course. He stated that he had been an alternate delegate to the General Assembly of U.N.0., but his chief duty as Consul-General had been to look after the interests of New Zealanders in New York.
