Fleece Wool Competition Next January
The annual fleece competition held by the Wanganui Provincial Executive of Federated Farmers is to be held at. the Savage Club Hall <r January 14 next.
The competition is lor crossbred wool only and fleeces from rams and stud sheep are not eligible. Classes range from 40’s to 56’s and over, the latter being in a separate clau; There are also classes for woolly hoggets. Fleeces are not penalised for show-
ing bellies and skirtings. Each fleece is an automatic competitor for the championship. It. is interesting to note that, in previous competitions the championship has on several occasions been won with a ewe fleece, while fleeces from ewes have frequently been in the prize-money in various classes. This removes the contention held by some farmers that owe fleeces cannot compete against wether fleeces. Particulars of the competition have
been sent to all branches of Federated Farmers and it is hoped that this year’s competition will bring record entries.
