Lay Tuberculosis Assn, in Wanganui Proving Valuable

The Wanganui Lay Tuberculosis Association was already proving valuable and was doing good work, said the tuberculosis officer, Dr. W. A. Priest, at the monthly meeting yesterday of the Wanganui Hospital Board. In several cases help and advice was being given to convalescent patients to resume their old occupations or take on fresh work. Several magazines had been issued monthly to patients in the T.B. section of Ihe Wanganui Hospital, Dr. Priest added. In addition a library for these patients was being formed and an appeal to the public woffid be made for suitable books. The association hoped that this would result in the nucleus oi a good fibrar}. Next year an art union and street appeal would be held to raise fund*; for the association’s aims, which were: To help in the rehabilitation of those who had been incapacitated for a long period; to gain the confidence of the public in the early detect loti and prevention of the disease and to furl her any effort to raise the general health standard; to provide comforts, etc., for patients in and out of hospital.
