PROSPECTS FOR TODAY <Special) Auckland, Oct. 3. With 77 engaged in the Trial Handicap, which will have to be run in three divisions, and the Mangaiti Hack Handicap also divided, there may be in all eleven races at the Te Aroha Jockey Club’s spring meeting tomorrow. The going will be on the easy side. It remains to be seen if Balgowan is back to his best, for if he is he would be capable of capturing the Somers Memorial Cup. He raced twice at Avondale last month, his first outings for a long time, and each day he was up handy at the home turn. The conditions underfoot, will also suit Chung Chong. Royal Charter, Tweedsmuir, Ascot Lad, and several of the lesser lights, including recent winners in Pola and Flying Jim. Balgowan and Chung Chong are preferred. A very large Held remains in the Electric Handicap. The three-year-olds Ninnid and Rozami are favoured, but they will not lack opposition. Ninnid and Contango should be at their best now.
