POLICE TO DISCUSS 40-HOUR WEEK

ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE (P.A.) Wellington, Oct. 3

Included in subjects for discussion at the annual conference of the New Zeamnd Police Association, opening in Wellington on Tuesday, is the possibility of working a 40-hour week in the police force, and its effect on recruiting for the force. One remit deals with a proposal for an improved style of uniform, and also a lighter uniform for summer wear.

The conference will continue for three days and will be officially opened by the Prime Minister (Mj, Fraser), who is also Minister of Police.

A complete new draft of police regulations is to be issued under the recently passed Police Force Act, and this is to be carefully examined by the conference and a report will be made to the department containing any suggestions decided upon.
