BOARDED BY NAVY
ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT SHIPS Recd. 6 p.m, Jerusalem, Oct. 3 A Royal Navy party boarded the illegal immigrant ships Paducah and Northland oft north Palestine last evening. The ships are carrying about 3500 Jews, who will be taken to Haifa and thence to Cyprus. The two ships had been broadcasting to Palestine Jews. A man broadcasting in English with an American accent from the ship "Redemption” declared this afternoon, "Seven destroyers are all round us.” Another broadcast appealed io the Haifa Jews: "Come and welcome us.”
It is officially stated that the naval party which boarded the Paducah experienced slight resistance. The Jews aboard the Northland gave no trouble.
The Faducah docked at Haifa late last night and 30 minutes later her 1500 passengers began disembarking and boarding the waiting British transports Empire Rest and Empire Comfort, which are taking them to Cyprus. The Northland is expected to dock later today.
