Miss Lee, of Feilding, visited Wanganui, for the week-end Girl Guide Training Camp and was the guest of Miss Irene Cook.
Mrs. N. J. Springer, Mill ward Street, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. B. G. Britton, Wellington. Mrs. Gladys Lovegrove (Gladys Gamman) has returned to Wanganui alter a visit to Australia and is staying at Foster’s Hotel. She intends making her home in Auckland shortly.
Miss Betty Down, Girl Guide Camp Adviser for the Wellington province, held a training camp ac the week-enu at Tirohanga, Castieclift, which was attended by local Gu.ders and Rangers.
Farewell Party. instead oi a number of small parties, the town and country frienas oi Mrs. W. J. Robinson deciaed to non; one big gathering lor her prior to leaving tor overseas. This tooK place yesteruay when aoout oi) assemoiea in Dustin's Social Room, and spent a very pleasant afternoon, songs sung by Mrs. D. Murseli, accompanied ny Mrs. W. G. Cooper (KapanuJ, elocutionary items by Mi’s. 1. operring, ana a talk on her recent trip oy air to America and England by Mrs. a. c. Seivewngnt were much enjoyed. Many good wisnes lor a pleasant voyage ana happy sojourn in England were extended to the guest of honour. Mrs. Robinson and her husoand leave Wanganui on October 7 and sail from New Zealand taree clays later.
St. Paul’s Friendship Club. The usual monthly meeting of St. Paul’s Women’s Friendship ciuo, presided over by Miss Gaiioway, wa.> nela in St. Paul’s Hall on Wednesday last, door hostesses being Mesdames Charles and Morrison. Club mem Den and their frienas were entertained by Mrs. S. Newsome and a group of hex Health and Beauty Class wiLi a most interesting display of exercises ana Grecian dancing which was much appreciated and enjoyed by all. Best bloom competitions were won by Mrs. MacFarlane and Mrs. Gillespie 1, Mrs. Warren 2, Mrs. Signal and Miss Haase 3 equal. Another competition in the form of something new from something old resulted as follows:—Mrs. Charles 1, Mrs. Holmes 2, Mrs. Sanson and Mrs. Gordan 3 equal. After supper, which was served by Mesdames Murray Robertson, Swan and Warnock tne singing of Auld Lang Syne bought another happy evening to a dose.
