BULK MILK TRANSPORT TO BEGIN NEXT YEAR IN WELLINGTON AREA

(PA.) Wellington, July 23 An innovation for New Zealand in the transport of bulk milk, is to begin early next year, when a part of Wellington’s milk supply will be brought from the country by tank wagons, the general manager of the Wellington City Corporation Milk Department (Mr. E. L. Benseman) said to-day. The system had been operating successfully for some years in parts of Australia, and it was found that tanker transoprt eliminated much of the wastage of single-can delivery. It was quicker and less costly. In time, all Wellington’s milk would be brought to the City in this way. It was not proposed, however, to employ tankers in delivering milk after it had been pasteurised. The tank wagon would have a capacity of 1800 gallons, somewhat larger than the average-sized motof-spirit transport.
