PILOTS’ B LICENSE CONDITIONS AMENDED
To enable pilots who built up many (lying hours during the war, but who have not had an opportunity for flyng during the past two years, a chance to qualify for a commercial licence, a Notice to Airmen issued by direction of the Minister of Defence, announces an amendment to the regulations.
Previously under Air Navigation Regulations a pilot applying for a B (commercial) licence had to produce proof that in the preceding two years he had carried out at least 100 hours’ flying and 30 landings as a pilot in sole charge of an aircraft; but under the amendment this period has been extended to four years if the applicant has qualfied as a pilot in any of the air forces of the British Empire. At the discretion of the Minister, the upper age limit may also be relaxed if, before the date of application, the candidate had been in service as a pilot of State aircraft. Examinations for B licences will be held at Christchurch’ on August 28.
