Conditions for the shooting season in and around Taihape were unfavourable on opening day, it was reported here this morning, but in places they improved over the week-end, and good sport was enjoyed. Many sportsmen were out and several limit bags were recorded. With a change in weather better tallies are expected this week. TRIBUTE’TO-MR. A. WAY (0.C.) Bulls, May 4. At the annual meeting of the Bulls branch of the National Party on Thursday night it was reported that the organising secretary (Mr. Arthur Way) and his assistant (Miss F. Way) had relinquished their positions, owing to Mr. Way’s failing health. A motion was subsequently passed regretting the resignations, and thanking them for their services and also extending to Mr. Way the best wishes of the branch in the years that lay ahead. Speaking to the motion, Mr. R. O. Dalrymple, whose remarks were endorsed by several speakers, paid a sincere tribute to Mr. Way for nis organising ability and capacity to infuse others. Another speaker remarked that Mr. Way was one of the few men who could come to a meeting, say things and get away with it. ST. JOHN’S CLUB OFFICERS Althougn the annual meeting had , been held a week earlier, St. John’s , and Suburban Workingmen’s Clubs > annual election of officers was held on Saturday. Mr. R. K. Cunningham, acting president for part of the term, was elected president for the next two years. There was an election for the position, two candidates having , been proposed. Mr. A. P. Wiggins was elected unopposed as the club’s vice-president for the next year. The treasurer is Mr. H. White and the auditors, who were reappointed, are Messrs. F. J. Hill and B. M. Silk. The executive committee of eight is: Messrs. W. G._ Price, A. Koorey, G. Dixon, H. Barnes, A E. Piddock, W. R. Sundborn, W. Fibbes and R. I McGinity.
