TWO TASMANIAN GIRL CYCLISTS TOURING N.Z. ViSIT WANGANUI

Two girl cyclists, from Hobart, Tasmania, left Wanganui at about 7 o’clock yesterday morning to go to Auckland, via Eltham, New Plymouth and Hamilton. They were riding the regulation lady’s bicycle and wore small metal packs strapped to their backs. On the packs were tin plates, painted white, and bearing glaring red letters forming the words “From Tasmania.” Tlie girls are on a cycling tour of New Zealand. They arrived in the Dominion about ten days ago on the Wahine. They were to have come over originally on the Wnnganella on the trip following the illfated one which had its sequel on Barrett's Reef. Their trip was put back a month, and, after many disappointments, they got away. Lavish in their praise of New Zealand and the hospitality of its people, the girls are, as it were, “cycling swaggers from Australia.” Their tour began in Wellington, and they cycled through Palmerston North to Wanganui, arriving here last Friday, finishing up at the Aramoho motor camp. The girls, identified as Miss Fraser and Miss Pearce, intend working in Auckland for awhile, after which they intend making their way down the East Coast to Wellington, and thence across to the South Island, returning again to Wellington. The tour is expected to he of six months' duration. They will then return toT asmania. Misses Fraser and Pearce have done quite a lot of cycling in Australia, aim have long loved with the idea of going to England, hut in the meantime they decided to "do" New Zealand, and possibly include England and the continent ol: Europe in their itinerary at a much laldr date.
