WOMAN BITTEN BY SNAKE IN SYDNEY STREET
Sydney, March 10. In a street in on e of the most thickly populated parts of Sydney a woman was bitten by a deadly copperhead snake. She was rushed to hospital, where doctors injected serum to counteract effects of the venom.
The woman, who has now fully recovered, said that she wa s leaving a house in the dark when she trod on something soft* and felt a pain in her left kg, just above the ankle. The snake ooited and struck at a man who came to her rescue,, but the snake was quickly killed.
It is thought that the snake, which is one of the most dangerous species in Australia, vvas carried into the c?iy in a load of fodder or fruit.
