SOLDIER SENTENCED FOR LETTER TO PAPER IN CYPRUS
Recd. 6 p.m. London, March 9. A British court martial at Nicosia sentenced Gunner Hall Longmire to 28 days’ detention because he sent a letter which was published in the “Cyprus Mail,” says “The Times” Nicosia correspondent. The letter, which referred to an American Senator’s proposal that Britain should become part of the United States, stated that the idea was not fantastic but ‘‘would be the greatest end most logical event since we lost the Amercian War of Independence We might appoint the King as the Speaker of the United States Senate. ’
