WANGANUI BOWLING

Attendances at bowling greens in Wanganui were materially affected on Saturday in spite of ideal weather conditions. Counter-attractions included the pipe band championship contest. R.S.A. ANNUAL TOURNAMENT The tenth annual tournament of the R. was played on the St. John’s Club’s greens on Saturday. The attendance, 16 teams, was lower than last year, when 20 teams took part, but counter attractions affected the entry. Mr. W. Bourne, tournament chairman, welcomed players and he was followed by the R.S.A. president, Mr. Colin Armstrong, who thanked the bowling committee for their good organising work and the St. John's Bowling Club for again making their greens and facilities available. When presenting the prizes' at the conclusion of play Mr. C. S. Smith solicited the help of all returned men in connection with the formation of their new green and pavilion.
