SCOTTISH CONCERT

PRESENTATIONS TO SUCCESSFUL BANDS Finale to the pip e bands’ national contest, which concluded in Wanganui yesterday, was a concert of Scottish items presented in the evening. The Majestic Theatre was packed with an audience in a happy frame of mind. At this function medals and trophies won by bands and bandsmen were presented by the wife of the president of the N.Z.* Highland Pipe Band Association, Mrs. lan Cameron. Speakers were Mr. Cameron and His Worship the Mayor, Hon. W. J. Rogers, M.L..C. Eulogistic reference to the success of the contest and the efficient organisation was made, and a special tribute paid to the contest secretary, Mr. D, A. Almond. Champion B grade band, City of Wellington, had earlier been presented with its trophies, and those distributed last night wer e to:— Medals.
