ON TRENTHAM TRACKS

INDIAN DAWN IMPRESSED IN FINAL GALLOP (Special) Wellington, March 6. Most attractive gallop at Trentham this morning was probably that of the Nizami filly Indian Dawn, a candidate for the St. Leger on Saturday. Other good efforts were credited to Niloch, Blue Moon and General VictoryFor fast work both the course proper and the plough were available, and the going was hard and fast. Jumping away at the seven-furlong post cn the course proper Indian Dawn (K. Ford) was joined by Foxhaven at the four to run the last halfmile in 49sec. Indian Dawn ran the full distance in 1.31 1-5 and was going comfortably at the close. Majesty (Coleman) was sent over the same distance, but was restrained to 1.36 1-5 after covering the first three furlongs in 39 4-ssec. Niloch (L. J. Ellis) was much more impressive than Adair (J. Walker) and Lady Christine (K. Ford), running five furlongs in 1-3 after taking 14sec for the first furlong. Lady Christine did not stride out at all freely. Sea Fury (Ford) and Master Robin (Searle) were partners in a work-out on the plough, coming home the last three furlongs in 35 4-ssec, with Sea Fury doing it the better. Lady Vite (Regan) and Prince Coronach (Jago) ran ar. easy half-mile on the two-year-old track in 53 l-ssec. DESERT FOX’S SEVEN. Desert Fox (H. N. Wiggins) jumped off at the mile post on the course proper to run his last seven furlongs in 135 and the last half-mile in 53 3-ssec. Thereafter practically all the fast work was executed on this track. King's Ransom (C- H. Mackie) appeared to be doing it a trifle better than Flare Path (J. McFarlane) at the close of five furlongs in 1.5, the first furlong having taken 14 4-5. They could have imnrdved on the time.

Wartikeya (H. N. Wiggins) jumped away ahead of Master Fox (Regan) to register 50 2-ssec for half a mile. Karachi (N. Cavaney) was clear of Treasure Tee (H. McDonald) at the end of half a mile in 49 4-ssec. the grey working very attractively. keening (Lepper) drew well clear of Omaio (Kerr) and Master Peter (R. Marsh) to be some eight lengths ahead at the post, completing the seven furlongs in 1.32 4-ssec and the last three furlongs in 41 4-ssec. Keening has been suffering from kidney trouble, but he-worked freely with a light bov in the saddle this morning. Blue Moon (H. McDonald) showed the way throughout to Night Foe (C. H. Mackie) and Sakuntala (H. N. Wiggins) over a mile in 1.47 1-5, coming home the last three in 43 l-ssec. General Victory (Wiggins) was doing it nicely a length clear of Tara Hall (N. Cavaney) with Desert Chant (C- H. Mackie) beaten off. when running the half-mile in 49sec. Sheilwvn (K. Ford) and Iron Duke (Wiggins') kept together till just short of the post, where Sheilwyn pulled oi t to be a neck in advance on the line, the half-mile taking 50 3-ssec. Flying Dink (J. McFarlane) slinped over three furlongs in 37sec, and the Masterton winner Vakura (C. H. Mackie) ran an easy half-mile in 54 4-ssec.

Balcherrie (L. Harding) was kejjt up to his work in the closing stages of a mile task to complete the full distance in 1.44 1-5, the last half-mile in 51 3-ssec. BRUCE A DEFINITE RUNNER Bruce (L. J- Ellis), who is now understood to he a definite runner in the Autumn Handicap, was worked on the plough in company wiC: i.lontosorrie, brushing heme over the last three furlongs. Bruce looks very well. Colopier (J. Edmunds), a winner on the Taranaki circuit, was sent, along on the plough in company with Lady Scholar (L. Harding), coming home the last three furlongs in 35 l-ssec. Colopier has taken no harm from his trip. Howe, well bandaged in front, was slowly cantered on the plough, but while he looked bright and well his' action was stilted. There is a doubt whether he will go to the post, but his owner stated that should he run the chestnut will take his place in the St. Leger Stakes. Another doubtful runner is stated to be Da Vinci, topweight in the Railway Handicap.
