Cr. A, S. Coleman has been appointed to represent the Rangitikei County Council at the meeting of the newly constituted Wanganui Regional Planning Council, to be held on March 14. Mr. L. E. Jones, a member of the Rangitikei County Council's clerical staff in Marton, hss been appointed assistant county clerk, Hauraki Plains County. His resignation was received at the monthly meeting yesterday, of the Rangitikei County, when appreciation of his services was expressed. Mr. J. Campbell White, who was formerly in the U.S.A, diplomatic service, and has been a guest of the American Minister at Fernside, Featherston, for six weeks, is to visit Wanganui later this month. With Mrs. White he will leave Fernside on March 18, and will travel by car to Auckland, pausing to see the museum and Maori church at. Wanganui, and at Mt. Egmont, and New Plymouth. Drum Major T. Stewart, from Canada, was among those present at a special conference of the New Zealand Pipe Bands' Association held in Wanganui last night. Drum Major Stewart is drum major of the Fort Win liam Women’s Pipe Band and the Fort Arthur Men's Pipe Band. Drum Major Stewart, on a tour of N.Z., is visiting Wanganui for the contests. Mr. J. 11. Tiffen. assistant county engineer to the Rangitikei County ' Council has been appointed county engineer Io the Waitomo County. When his resignation was received at the monthly meeting of the Rangitikei County yesterday. CT. V. Smith said that Mr. Tiffen had given very good service. “I am sorry that he has seen lit to move on, but a man must get varied experience,” Cr. Smith added. Mr. Tiff on’s resignation takes effect as from March 21. '.rhe council placed on record its appreiation of his services.
