GREAT COON CONSISTENT
Great Coon's win in the Olagc Handicap at Dunedin on Saturday was not unexpected, for the Nigge. Minstrel gelding had been in th: money more often than out. of it in his nine previous starts this season, although only once had he earned the winner’s share of the stakes, Now, with ten racets behind him this season, his record reads two wins, two seconds and two thirds. His reverses were early in the season before he struck form. He was unlucky when racing at Gore a fortnight ago in that his saddle slipped and he finished last. Great Coon won five times (including a dead-heat) last season and wa-> also four times placed last season in 15 starts. This season his form includes a win in the Winton Cup with 18.12 (including 31b allowance) in 2min. ,ssec., a track record. Sea Power 8.0 was second and Gold Lance 7.7 a ■dose third.
