“This has been an interesting section and the standard has been exceptionally high,” said the judge, Mr. T. J. Kirk.Burnnanr 1 in the solo section. under 17. yesterday afternoon. There were 50 competitors and the judging took all day. First place went to J. I. Bell, of Ashburton, with 88 points, with K. Smith, of Westport, second. 87i points, S. Cowie, of Hawera, was third with 81 points, and M. Thomas, of Queen Alexandra, and D. B. Dewe, of Feilding, equal fourth with 79 points.
