WANGANUI BOWLING ST. JOHN’S CLUB
An all-day tournament was played on St. John's green on Saturday, the following being the draw: Wililams, Congreve, Buckman, Herd; Thomas, Hicks, Easton, Moffatt; Dymock, Robson, Fowler, Stewart; Gurr, Glenny, Threadgold, Johnson; Adams, Bridges, Allen, Bassett; Payne, Emmerson, Ginn, Kirk; Chapman R. V. Brown, Rickard, Michie; J. Robertson, Hamilton F. Haywood Aiken; R. Pepper, Gibbard, C. Downey, Caird; Benefield, Goldsack, Browne, Brass; Brittain, Hunger, F. Pepper; Hermans, Bates, Ansell; Griffin, C. S. Brown, McPhail; Greager, D. Taylor, Shaw. The winners were Payne Emmerson, Ginn and Kirk, who won all five games. The runers up were Greager, D. Taylor and Shaw. “A” Singles Championship Final.
An excellent game resulted in a win for C. H. Clinkard 21 , over H. S. Harris 17. Clinkard led 4-0, 5-1, 6-4 and 8-7. Harris drew level—B all. A single and a well-drawn tour to Clinkard put him ahead 13-8. A brace to xiarris, allowed. On the next end Harris drove and took out his nearest to leave Clinkard lying 3 up. Clinkard drew on the fourth with his last bowl to lead 17-10. Each player then scored two singles, followed by two 2’s to Harris, making the score 19-16 in Clinkard’s favour. Clinkard scored a single and then Clinkard scored a single to end the game. Two games were played in the junior singles championship and other members present in the afternoon played practice games. COSMOPOLITAN CLUB The following are the results of shield games played on the Cosmopolitan Club greens between Cosmopolitan Club and Victoria.
