BRUNSWICK WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
There was a fair gathering of members for the first meeting of the year, which took place on the last Saturday in January. Mrs. J. Brownlee, after, an address of welcome reminded members of the catering for the stock sale in February, the profits of which are to go to Hall and Institute funds. A beautiful and novel arrangement oi flowers was displayed by Mrs. Caseley, various effects being obtained by the use of cardboard containers, and a bridal bouquet was greatly admired. Pianoforte solos by Miss Jean Ross, and songs by Miss Nancy Ross, provided the entertainment and Mrs. Wiliams read the Golden Thread, “Women of Soviet Russia.” The Roll Call, “My most embarrassing moment.,” brought forth some amusing confessions. A dainty afternoon tea was served by Mrs. E. Nicholls and the Misses Mullins. Competitions: Best flower, Mrs. J. Brownlie 1, Miss N. Brownlie 2, Mrs. Goldstone 3; three carrots, Mrs. Williams 1, Mrs. Goldstone 2.
