WANGANUI PIPE BAND COMPETING IN CONTEST AT NAPIER
The Wanganui Highland Pipe Band, under Drum Major D. A. Almond, is to participate in the Wellington-Hawke's Bay inter-provincial pipe band contest to be held at Napier during the weekend. The strength of the band will be 24 players—l 6 pipers and a full complement of drummers. The band will be leaving for Napier this evening and returning on Sunday. The Wanganui band will be one of three competing in the A grade championships. At the last of these interprovincial contests held at Feilding in 1940, the Wanganui Pipe Band won the first test section and was placed third in the quick step.
