LORD MONTGOMERY’S VISIT TO N.Z.

(P,A.) Wellington, Jan. 21 The Chief of the Imperial General Staff (Lord Montgomery) will spend a fortnight in New Zealand in July, during which he will discuss defence questions with the New Zealand Government and the military chiefs of staff, the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) stated to-night. Advice had been received by the Government that Lord Montgomery would leave the United Kingdom on June 26 and arrive in Australia on July 1. He would arrive in New Zealand from Australia by air on July 16 and leave the Dominion on July 31. Lord Montgomery is due back in the United Kingdom on August 5. Mr. Fraser said he hoped Lord Montgomery, who would be the guest of the New Zetland Government, would be able to see as much of the country as possible. Arrangements for his visit would be made by the Government and the programme would be drawn up in due course.
