SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. Mis. A. H. Selwyn Street, has returned alter a.holiday spent in Wellington. Miss Bessie Black and Miss J. D. Sim have returned to Wanganui after a holiday spent at the Sounds. Mrs. P. Grant, Kai Iwi, and her daughter, Barbara .have left to spend the holidays in Tauranga and Motiti Island. in order to marry a Gisborne girl, a former American marine has flown to New Zealand from El Paso, Texas. He is Mr. Richard Sommeiville, and hi s fiancee is Miss Jean Fletchei. Miss Fletche? met Mr. Sommerville when he was on leave in Gisborne not long before the Tarawa landing, and later when she was in Wellington. The wedding will take place in Gisboi«*tin the near future, after which Mr. Sommerviile will take his bride back to America. Mr. Sommerville has not considered settling in New Zealand. He has a farm in Texas and so far has not been affected by America’s postwar troubles. Novel Honour lor Bridal Pair. An aero club memberm and florist, whose marriage took place in New Plymouth on Saturday, were honoured in a novel way. A February bride-to-be, Miss Pearl Dundon, of Gonville, was entertained by some 65 guests at kitchen gift party m the Gonville Masonic Hall on Saturday night, given by Mr and Mrs R. W. Lints'and Mrs. E. W. E. Carter. Appreciative reference was made to the services given by Miss Dundon as a member of the Gonville Red Cross for several years.
