HUNTERVILLE NEWS

SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The Hunterville School Commi’tee. at its last meeting, decided to purchase a film piojector unit as soon as possible. The headmaster (Mr.G. Snadden) reported that the roll number was 255, but attendances recently were below the average on account of the prevalence of sickness. The school would be closed, he said, on November 20 on account of a teachers' refresher course at Marton, and on November 27, election day. Parents’ Day would be held about the second week in Decembe •. and the school would break-up on December 19. To provide better amenities for the children travelling by bus in the matter of luncheon, some discussion took place regarding the provision of a lunch-room for about 180 pupils with a kitchen equipped to supply hot meals if necessary and also provided with a sick bay giving better facilities for the care and treatment of children taken ill or hurt while at school. It was stated that a room such as this was recently set up at the Okato school and was proving a distinct advantage. It was decided that representations be made to the Education Board on the proposal, with a suggestion that if not earmarked for other uses, the material could be provided from the dismantling of the Poukiore and Sl- - school buildings now out ol use.
