Mr. Carr said he had been reluctantlv forced to the conclusion that the conditon lof his health made Vis withdrawal inevitable.

“It is with deep regret,” said Mr Carr, “that I will relinquish my duties as Parliamentary representative of the people of Auckland West. I was selected by the Labour party to succeed the groat leader of the party, the late Prime Minister. Mr, Savage, in the constiuency. I have striven, to the best of my ability, to give faithful and loyal service to those whom I was proud to represent in Parliament, and I believe 1 have succeeded in doing so.”
