PROSPECTS DISCUSSED (Epscial) Auckland, Oct. 4. With two large divisions i.t the Tria! Handicap and large fields engaged in the other events, there will be a very full day’s racing at Te Aroha to-morrow. The only field relatively weak in numbers is that to contest the main race, lor which a stake of £llOO is offered.

A quartet of dangerous runners in the Somers Memorial Handicap are Tweedsmuir, Consp.racy, Royal Charter, and Hippodrome. There are also prospects about Artificer, Fame Bian, Batal, Cracroft, Bedivere, and Brantome. However, the position may best be gauged on Avondale second-day running, when Hippodrome got the decision in the objection room instead of a head defeat, for he now comes in 61b better with Tweedsmu.r than on that occasion. On the figures alone Hippodrome is entitled to favouritism.

The Electric Handicap should see the locally-trained Theophilus a hard horse for Our Bridge, General Menteith, Black Ace, Kenwyn, Beryl Fox, and Old Scot to head off, bu; Our Bridge may be capable of doing it. The following may run well in their engagements:—
