HAWKE’S BAY CLASSIC PROSPECTS

Revived after a lapse of sixteen years, the Hawke’s Bay Guineas will provide a feature event at Hastings to-day for the concluding day of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club’s spring meeting. Twelve remain engaged in this mile classic for three-year-olds, Flying Robin having been withdrawn and Desert Fox being reported as a doubtful starter. The form displayed last. Saturdav suggests that Opulent, Morocco and Dancing Girl may be regarded as having the best prospects, but several other candidates, including Rosswood, King’s Ransom and Sakuntala. will have many friends. The principal handicap event, the Russel] Memorial, should provide another close contest, but the field for the open sprint is lacking i*n the duality evident on the opening day.
