(P A.) Christchurch Oct. 2. The store sheep entry at Addington to-day was 819, comprising 396 hoggets, 284 ewes and lambs and 139 two-tooth ewes. Except for three or four lines of excellent hoggets the quality was poor. Bidding was restricted, except for good hoggets. A line of 209 Romney hoggets made from 37s 6d to 43s 6d; good twotooths in lamb made 31s 9d; best ewes with lambs made 17s to 20s.

The spring lamb entry was 110. The quality of the best sorts was high, but several plain and unfinished lines came forward. Bidding was free throughout, and values were firm. Extra prime went to 41s Id; prime, 34s to 40s 6d; good good, 28s to 33s 6d; medium and light, 23s 6d to 27s 6d. The fat hoggets offering was 450. Quality, except for the best, was not as high as usual. The / was keen inquiry for all types. Values were fully firm except for shorn hoggets, which dropped back slightly. Values for extra prime ewes to 57s Id; prime, 40s to 42s 6d; good, 34s to 39s 6d; medium, 28s 6d to 335; light, 24s to 28s.

The fat sheep entry was 4250. Quality was high, more than half of the entry being shorn. Bidding opened firmly with values up Is at the opening. Later there was a further improvement of Is all round. Values were back £2 on the average, but a better quality of yarding kept prices slightly firmer than a fortnight ago. The supply of heifers was short, and these prices showed little change on last week. A smaller pro* portion of old cows attracted little interest. Best beef made to 65s per lOOlbs.; good, 55s to 60s; medium, 40s to 50s; best cow beef to 47s 6d; secondary cow beef to 355.

Values: Extra prime hec.vy steers to £33 2s 6d; prime £23 to £25 17s 6d; prime medium weight. £l6 12s 6d to £2O 10s; light, £l4 to £l6; extra prime heifers to £23 2s 6d; prime, £l6 10s to £l9 12s 6d; medium and light, £lO to £l5 10s; extra prime cows to £l9 17s 6d: prime. £l2 to £l6; medium and light, £lO to £l2.

Fat Pigs.—The porker entry was the smallest for several weeks. At the start of the sale values were 2s to 3s higher. Later there was a further rise of 3s to 4s a head. The chopper entry was again large and values showed little change. The bacon yarding was small and values advanced by 10s to 15s. The sale was the best for six months.
