ELLERSLIE FIELDS PROSPECTS

(Special> Auckland, July 19. Last fixture of the season up this wav, the Avondale Jockey Club’s winter meeting tomorrow and the following Saturday will mark the club’s farewell to Ellerslie, for it will be racing on lhe home track at Avondale next September. Some interesting contests are likely at the fixture, for which the going appears certain to be heavy. Wanganui interest will centre on Master Francis, sole representative from the River City, who will essay the Ellerslie “hili’’ for the first time in the Mt. Albert Steeplechase. The field is not a strong one, and if Ivil Is content Io let Master brands make his own running he should be in the money.

In the Plumpton Handicap there is a good deal of form to 2:0 upon, with 1 the three-year-old Batal likely to be one of the realy dangerous candidates aft el' his easy win last month. Other good nrospects are Leigh Hark, Abbey Fox, Cracroft, Royal Charter and Ruling Master, so it is certainly an open race. The stablemates Peter Gregor (a winner last week) and Park Royal have undeniable prospects in the President's Handicap, the field in which is headed by that good weight-carrier Cambria.
