NEW YORK CONTRACT

WELLINGTON SINGER TO LEAVE THIS WEEK-END. Wartime concert party work has brought a singing contract in New York for a Wellington "irl, Miss Audrey McNamara, who wnT leave by air for the United States to-morrow. A member of the 2YA Concert Party during the war, Miss McNamara was popular as a “blues” singer w.th troop audiences in the Wellington district and in New Caledonia when the concert party made its tour there. [of Columbia Radio heard Miss Mci Namara sing, and arranged to take back to America a recording of her voice. As a result she has been offered a contract in New York. In San Francisco Miss McNamara will stay with Commander and Mrs. Robert Cleghorn (Mrs. Cleghorn was formerly Mrs. Margaret Gillespie, of Wellington) and with Mrs. Howard Lawler (formerly Shona Bennetts). .Mrs. S. E. Larsen (formerly Olive Fordham > who is living in Seattle, is another friend whom she will visit, and Miss McNamara also plans a holidas hi Virginia before returning to New Zealand in about nine months’ lime.
