U.N.R.R.A. FOOD FUNDS ALMOST EXHAUSTED

SHIPMENTS CEASING Recd. 6.30 p.m. New York, July 18. U.N.R.R.A. headquarters has indicated that even with the 465,000,000 dollar appropriation at present before Congress, its food funds are almost exhausted. Hence there may not be any U.N.R.R.A. food shipments after September to Greece, Yugoslavia, Albania and Czechoslovakia. Only fat and bread grains would be sent in September and October to Austria, Poland and Italy. Shipments to China would continue a little longer. Brazil may admit upwards of 1,000,000 displaced persons from Europe as immigrants, said Senor Jaoa Alberto, chairman of the Brazilian Immigration Council. The United Nations were worrying about the displaced persons problem, and Brazil, which needed agricultural workers, could save the situation. However, no great number would go to Brazil unless the United Nations shouldered the expenses, which might total 40.000,000 dollars. Senor Alberto recently returned from the United Stales, where he conversed with British and American immigration authorities, who will shortly be visiting Brazil for a close study of the problem.
