BOUT FOR BOS MURPHY
AUCKLAND NEGOTIATIONS REPORTED COMPLETE (KA.) Auckland, May 22. j Negotiations have been proceeding for some time for the appearance in Auckland of Bos Murphy, of Welling- ; ton. the welterweight boxer who scor- ' ed a win over Vic Patrick at the end o£ last month. These have been prac- | tically completed, Mr. P. Galvin, Mur- ■ phy’s manager, having advised Mr. R. L. Farrell, president of the Auckland Bcxing Association, that Murphy is willing to fight any New Zealand middleweight in Auckland on July 8. The Auckland Association is applying to the New Zealand Boxing Council for a permit to stage a contest for a purse of £5OO. An opponent is being sought for Murphy, and he will probably be the winner of the match next Monday night between Roy Stevens and George Allen for the New Zealand middleweight championship. The latter title was relinquished by Cliff Hanaham. of Waimate, when he retired at the end of last season. Stevens has signified his willingness to meet Murnhy If he is successful in gaining the New Zealand title.
