KAIERAU FAMILY PICNIC
DAY AT UPOKONGARO. An enjoyable family picnic, conducted as part of the Kaierau Jubilee celebrations, was held at Upokongaro yesterday. There was a large crowd present, the majority of whom were conveyed up river by boat. Races for all were conducted throughout the day, sweets and ice creams being provided for the children. The races resulted as follows: Boys 5 and under, R. Ditchfield 1, Glenn 2; girls 5 and under, K. Glenn 1, R. Thorburn 2; boys 10 and under, Jarrett 1, Byres 2; girls 10 and under, L. Glenn 1, I. Bates 2; Boys 15 and under, J. Duncan 1, M*. Glenn 2; girls 15 and under, N. Glasgow 1, M. Jarrett 2; single ladies, B. Robb 1, M. Jerrett 2; single men, D. Glengarry 1, K. Goldsbury 2; married ladies, F. Roache 1, E. Lockett 2; married men, W. Firmin 1, L. Roache 2; club championships, W. Firmin and J. Price (dead heat) 1,; committee race, L. Roache, W. Ward, W. Glasgow (triple dead heal) 1; boys’ three-legged, G. Glengarry and M. Glenn; men's threelegged, Titter and Goldsbury girls’ three-legged, K. Glenn and L. Glenn; ladles’ three-legged, M. Price and B. Robb; adults’ piggy-back, E. Simpson and daughter 1, F. Roache and Jameson 2; chain stepping, Mrs. Firmin (ladies); chain stepping, W Ross (men); visitors’ race, Wallace 1, Jameson 2.
