NO R.S.A. BALL MORE FOOD FOR BRITAIN INSTEAD. (0.C.) Hunterville. April 22. That the R.S.A. should give a lead to the communitv in the conserving of food so that the people of Britain might be assisted, was the opinion expressed at an executive meeting of the Hunterville branch. With this object in view, therefore, it was decided not to proceed with an earlier proposal to hold an R.S.A. Victory ball. It was stated that if ball were held the supper would require to be on lavish lines, which could only be considered as contrary to the principles of the campaign to save food for Britain. On the recommendation of the Social Commmittee it war, however, decided'to hold a series of small dances in the Scots Hall, when only the normal light supper would be provided. The question of holding a dance in the Town Hall when the official peace celebrations arc held, was discussed, and it was decided to co-operate with the Citizens’ Peace Commit, ee, when it is formed, having this end in view. Anzac services will be held in the churches on Sunday next, and in the evening the R.S.A. will have i s third narade, when it will attend service at the Presbyterian Church. The branch now has a membership of 155, and it is hoped that these three narades will be strongly attended. They provide first of all the servicemen’s opportunitv to pay tribute to comrades who mode the supreme sacrifice and in the second place they provide the opportunity to demonstrate to the public the depth and meaning of comradeship in arms. At all parades medals will be worn, or, in the case of the 2nd N.Z.E.F., ribbons. HU NTER VILLE’S REPRESENTATIVE IN VICTORY MARCH.
