TAIHAPE NOTES

R.S.A. PICNIC HELD (0.C.) Taihape, March 7. The first Taihape annual R.S.A. picnic was held recently at the playground next to the Domain. A good muster of returned men, their wives and children ±pent a very enjoyable day in perfect weather, and it was the general opinion of all that with a fey more improvements to the giounds it would make an ideal picnic grounds. Races were held for young and old. For the children ice-creams, drinks, lollies and apples were the order of the day. Results of events:— .

Boys’ three-legged race: A. Goddard and J. Collins 1, M. Burke and J. Hutchings 2. N.Z. NATIONAL PARTY Recently Mr. A. J. Evans, chairman of the Taihape branch, Mr. W. J. Collins, organiser, Waimarino electorate, and the hon. secretary, Mr. W. B. Camish, formed a branch of the party at. Moawhango and Turangaarere. At Moawhango Mr. Gordon Campbell was elected chairman and Mr. R. Turner hon. secretary, with a strong commtitee. At Turangaarere, Mr. E. A. Peters was elected chairman and Mrs. F. W. Anderson hon. secretary, with another large committee. ' Keen interest was taken in the addresses given at both places. On Wedre 7 day evening the monthly meeting of the Taihape branch was held in the A. and P. Committee rooms, when there was a large attendance of members from the Waimarino and Rangitikei electorates. The chairman was Mr. A. J. Evans.
