WILL VISIT TURKEY
U.S. BATTLESHIP MISSOURI k Washington, March 6. The w.S. battleship Missouri will depart from New York on March 21 to visit Turkev and several Mediterranean ports and io take to Istanbul the body of the former Turkish Ambassador, Mehmet Ertegun, who died in Washington in 1944. Ertegun was the dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
The State Department said there were no political implications in the trip of the Missouri. Returning from Istanbul, the Missouri will visit Piraeus, Alexandria, Naples, and Tan-
Diplomatic officers said that whether intended or not the trip lo Turkey and Greece unquestionably would have a diplomatic meaning lo the extent that it serves as a reminder of American seapower and military strength. The ‘‘New York Post” says the Missouri may later join the British Fleet manoeuvres near Gibraltar.
