HAWERA TRACK WORK

FINAL GALLOPS FOR TARANAKI

Conditions were ideal for training operations at Hawera yesterday mornwhen the final gallops for the Taranaki meeting on Saturday were conducted, writes ‘'Goldspur,” in the “Hawera Star." The plough and the course proper were freely used, both tracks being in first-class order. On the Course Proper.

Bramerton (Holland! shaded White Diamond < Hardman) at the conclusion of half a mile in 51sec. Bramerton is a doubtful starter on the first day, but he will be on hand on Monday. While Diamond lias improved with recent racing and she should give a good account of herself in the juvenile event.

Drambuie (Holland) and Robin’s Reward (Potroz) were companions over five furlongs in 1.4 i. The former has come to no harm from her outings at Egmont and her consistency should soon lie rewarded. Drambuie is now running her races out much more solidly. Robin’s Reward has thrived on fils tasks of late and promises to add interest to the Taranaki States contest. After racing at New Plymouth he will contest the Sires’ Produce Stakes at Awapuni. On the Plough.

Black Plato (Holland, finished well clear of Peter's Choke (Potroz) at the end of six furlongs in 1.17 2-5, the first three in 38 4-ssec. Black Plato suffered a fool injury prior to the second day of the Egmont meeting, but lie pulled up quite sound this morning. The distance might prove just 100 far for him tn the Taranaki Cup. Peter’s Choice is to be reserved tor the second day. He has fined down considerably with recent racing and now that the tracks are easier he should be heard of again in the near future.

Restriction (Holland) was not bustled to complete five furlongs tn 1.0 3-ssee. He ran a good race in the Nolan Cup while his condition lasted, and lie appeals as an early improver. Silver ral (Mills) sprinted three furlongs in 37 l-ssec. He is on the upgrade and should soon return to me winning list. General Saleve (W. Hardman) traversed half a mile in 51 4-ssee. He bears a bright appearance and should win his share during the remainder of the Taranaki autumn circuit. The hurdler Mimicry completed two rounds of pace work by reeling off a couple o£ lurlongs in 24isec. In spite of his two defeats at the Egmont meeting, Mimicry is capable of Det.er etforts and the weaker class engaged at New Plymouth will afford him an excellent chance to atone. War Effort < Flower) ran three furlongs in 42sec. Gold Claim Was let oft with strong work. Third each day at Hawera, he snouid not be long in securing a winning bracket. Hiding engagements announced lot the nrst day at Sew Plymouth include:— N. Holland: Black Plato, Drambuie, Lord Coronach (County Welter), Golden Shar, Declaim, White Diamond, Broietort Star. 1.
