Sir Charles and Lady Rosenthal are on a brief tour of New Zealand as guesti of the Government. Sir Charles has been Administrator of Norfolk for seven years, and the ciose association of that island with New Zealand, particularly since Japan entered the war brought he and Lady Rosenthal into close contact with many New Zealand Army and Air Force personnel. Arriving in Auckland by air from the island at the end of last week, Sir Charles and Lady Rosenthal visited Rotorua and Waitomo and came on to Wanganui on Monday night by car. They stayed at Foster's Hotel, and yesterday afternoon went on to Wellington They are to fly to Christchurch and visit Dunedin. Later, thev will return to Auckland and travel by plane to Australia. Sir Charles retired from the position of Administrator at the end of 1945, and is enjeying a holiday before settling down, either in Australia, New Zealand, or Norfolk Island itself. In the last war Sir Charles Rosenthal commanded Australian troops and participated in engagements at Gallipoli, Hame., Villers, Brettoneux, the Beaurevoir Line, and Montbrehaid. He was wounded at Villers Brettoneux. He was eventually the senior general under Sir John Monash, and, in addition to being decorated fend knighted by Britain, was awarded the French Croix de Guerre, the Belgian Croix de Guerre, and was made an Officer of the United States Legion of Honour.
