UNEXPLODED BOMBS
AIR FORCE WARNING Auckland, Jan. 8. Reports of unexploded aerial bombs being seen in the vicinity of David Rocks, about four miles north of the western end of Waiheke Island, have been made to the police at Auckland recently by a number of yachtsmen, and as a result, the Air Force authorities have issued a warning to th? public to keep clear of the area which is still in use for live bombing practice.
Two live bombs, ope of 5001 b and the other of 2501 b, were found on the range by Air Force officers who inspected the area at the weekend. Ffforts to explode the bombs by gunfire were unsuccessful, but they will probably be dealt with shortly. However, other unexploded missiles are almost certain to be in the scrub or under water in the locality, and yachtsment and others are therefore
warned to keep clear. The range is used by personnel from the Ardmore station flying Corsair aircraft. The danger area is within a radius of 2000 yards of the target rock, the nautical position of which is latitude 36deg 42min 29sec, and longitude 175 deg Omin 23sec.
